“More than mere words and kind thoughts”

Helping to meet the needs of those who desperately need help.

We seek to reach the poor and the elderly with health care services… as well as those with addictions.
We also train parents through an innovative family coaching program,
a very important aspect of our mission.

There is such great need in our inner city neighborhoods. Yes, the government has many effective programs, but it never seems to be enough… And those who are most needy fall through the cracks. Compassion in Action seeks to remedy this ongoing problem by offering hope to the hopeless. Using “preemptive” training and practical treatment, we apply the needed balm to the wounds of the body and soul. Many are now being helped!

The Work of Compassion

Koinonia Health Care
under the direction of Dr. Robert Paeglow is contracted by Compassion in Action to offer health services to the poor… those who fall through the government safety net. This clinic, offering medical and psychological services, is housed in the Capital Region Prayer and Healing Center and treats many patients every day.

Neighborhood Health Advocates
seeks to reduce or delay the hospitalization of the elderly. This effective program links health and social service providers and faith
communities to enhance the provision of care to those with unmet needs. They also share useful information to help people deal with the complexities of today’s health care environment. Tanya Zelman, CSW Program Coordinator.

Grace Recovery Group
is a beacon of hope in a very dark environment. Addicts and others with various problems are being greatly encouraged and some are set free from the chains that have bound them for decades. Vernon Milkins, a former addict of 25 years, heads the group.

Capital Region Family Life Institute
with directors, Stephen and Karen Lalor offers weekly classes, and in-home consultations to promote sound marriages and healthy family interpersonal relationships. They also do financial counseling and teach conflict resolution. One-on-one mentoring is available to qualified couples who will in turn train others.
